There is something of the Mediterranean in his manner, a grace that seems at odds with the harsh northern heritage of his family. His eyes hold both the calculation of a ruler and the curiosity of a scholar.

Frederick II, the last Hohenstaufen emperor, was born among Italians and endowed with personal advantages that set him apart from his German ancestors. He assumed the cross at twenty-one but grew to question papal authority as he aged. His reign was marked by the attempt to restore Italian monarchy, and he ended his life beheaded at Naples, the final emperor of his storied line.
Description
An elegant figure in his thirties with the refined build of one raised among the sophisticated courts of Italy. His dark hair frames a face that reflects both German determination and Italian cultivation. He wears imperial robes that artfully blend the styles of north and south, and carries himself with the cultured authority of a man equally comfortable commanding armies or engaging in scholarly discourse.
