Godegisel was the youngest brother of Gundobald, ruling the dependent principality of Geneva. As a Burgundian prince, he joined the royal standard with the troops of Geneva during the conflicts of his time. Left at Vienna with a garrison of five thousand Franks, he met his end when massacred by his own brother.
