There is a weight of inherited destiny in the way he descends from the mountains, as if the Alps themselves have delivered him to claim what is his by right and marriage. His presence suggests both the burden and the promise of empire.

Henry VI, son of the legendary Frederic Barbarossa, descended from the Alps to assert his claim to the Imperial crown and the rich inheritance of his wife Constantia in Sicily. His brief but decisive intervention in Italian affairs marked a continuation of Hohenstaufen ambitions in the south, linking the German crown to the Norman kingdom through marriage and conquest.
Description
Henry VI presents the image of a robust medieval emperor, with a square-jawed face and dark, penetrating eyes beneath a crown of gold. His shoulder-length brown hair and trimmed beard frame a face accustomed to authority. He is dressed in the imperial regalia of crimson and gold, with an ermine-lined mantle that speaks of both northern origins and southern ambitions.
