Julian, youngest son of Julius Constantius, survived the massacre that claimed his family and was raised in exile before being summoned to power. Elevated first to Caesar and later acclaimed Augustus by his troops in Paris, he brought to the purple a passion for Greek learning and a determination to restore the old gods. His brief reign was marked by philosophical study, military discipline, and an awkwardness in the trappings of Roman power that never left him; he died from a javelin wound sustained in battle against the Persians.
Description
A lean, middle-aged man with olive skin and dark hair, his face framed by a philosopher's beard. Military scars mark his arms from German campaigns, and a distinctive wound scar on his torso marks where a javelin pierced his liver. His hands bear the stains of animal sacrifice. He wears a simple white tunic beneath a purple military cloak, with gold imperial diadem and Greek-style sandals. His demeanor is contemplative, marked by perpetual philosophical inquiry and an awkwardness in military dress that betrays his scholarly nature.
