Justus Lipsius was a Flemish philologist and scholar whose vast learning made him one of the most influential humanists of his age. His opinions on classical texts and moral philosophy were cited across Europe, his name invoked in learned controversies from the Netherlands to the courts of princes.
Description
Justus Lipsius possesses a high forehead and neatly trimmed beard, his sharp, intelligent eyes framed by the marks of long study. He wears the dark academic gown and cap of a Renaissance professor, his ink-stained fingers and slightly stooped posture speaking of decades bent over manuscripts.
