Quintus Aemilius Laetus served as Praetorian prefect under both Commodus and Pertinax, becoming a central figure in the conspiracy that ended Commodus's reign. He initially excited the political tempest that followed but prudently avoided public scrutiny, and later appeared with his army intact after a crucial battle, though suspected of having held back during the fighting. His career ended when he was put to death after achieving victory.
