Leo III began as the son of an Isaurian grazier, working as an itinerant peddler before ascending through military merit to become Byzantine Emperor for twenty-four years. His reign was defined by his defense of Constantinople against Arab siege, his controversial initiation of the Iconoclast controversy, and his complex relationship with papal authority that culminated in the coronation of Charlemagne. Despite assassination attempts that left him miraculously healed, he maintained firm control over the Eastern Empire.

Description

A middle-aged man of Isaurian peasant stock with a stocky, martial build and weathered skin that speaks of mountain origins. His short dark hair and intense eyes convey both determination and the practical intelligence of a former soldier. He wears the imperial purple robes with gold embroidery, and his presence carries the unmistakable authority of one who rose from humble beginnings through merit and force of will.
