Lucilla began as the daughter of Emperor Marcus Aurelius and sister to Commodus, enjoying the privileges of imperial princesshood through her marriage to Lucius Verus. Her position deteriorated after her husband's death, leaving her jealous of the reigning empress and impatient with her secondary rank. This frustration led her to imitate the scandalous behavior of Faustina while harboring ambitions that would eventually transform her from imperial sister into conspirator against her own brother.
Description
Lucilla possesses the refined features of an imperial princess, with dark hair elaborately arranged in the fashion of the Antonine court. She wears the rich fabrics and jewelry appropriate to her status, her posture that of someone born to privilege but finding it increasingly constraining. Her eyes are sharp and calculating, suggesting a woman whose ambitions have begun to exceed her circumstances.
