Marcellus of Apamea served as bishop during the late 4th century, animated by apostolic fervor to eliminate pagan temples within his diocese. Despite his lameness, which prevented him from fighting or fleeing, he led soldiers and gladiators under an episcopal banner in his campaign against pagan worship, ultimately meeting his end at the hands of local rustics who rose against his efforts.

Description

An elderly bishop marked by a pronounced limp, wearing the robes of his office while carrying an episcopal banner. His face shows the intensity of apostolic conviction, and despite his physical limitation, he commands both spiritual authority and the loyalty of soldiers and gladiators under his leadership.
