There is something unyielding in his presence, a man shaped by endless campaigns and the weight of an ancient house. Mervan rose as the fourteenth and final caliph of the Umayyad dynasty, inheriting both the splendor and the fractures of an empire stretched thin by conquest and internal strife. Known to his contemporaries as the Ass of Mesopotamia for his stubborn endurance in the Georgian wars, he embodied the last fierce resistance of his house against the rising tide of the Abbasids. His reign marked the closing chapter of Umayyad dominance, a period defined by relentless warfare and the desperate struggle to preserve a legacy already crumbling beneath him.
Description
Mervan is a middle-aged man of Middle Eastern descent, with olive-toned skin weathered by years of sun and campaign. His face is stern and lined, framed by thick dark eyebrows and a neatly trimmed beard touched with gray. Short, coarse black hair shows similar silvering at the temples. Deep-set brown eyes give him a penetrating gaze beneath a furrowed brow. He dresses in the rich silks and brocades befitting a caliph, favoring deep burgundy and gold robes with a simple white turban, and carries himself with the upright posture of a seasoned warrior and ruler.
