Michael Angelus of Epirus, a bastard of the house of Angeli, rose from governor of Durazzo to found the independent Despotate of Epirus. His establishment of this strong principality represented both the fragmentation of Byzantine authority and the emergence of new centers of power in the wake of Constantinople's decline.
Description
A Byzantine nobleman with dark hair and strong, determined features, wearing fine but practical clothing suitable for both governance and warfare. His confident posture and military bearing reflect his status as both a member of the Angelus family and the founder of an independent principality in Epirus.
