Plotinus founded the Neoplatonic school of philosophy, establishing himself as the master of allegorical interpretation and metaphysical speculation. His works would profoundly influence later thinkers, including the Emperor Julian, and he was regarded alongside Porphyry and Iamblichus as one of the three great Neoplatonists. His philosophical system bridged ancient Greek thought with later mystical traditions.
