Restitutus was a sub-deacon whose tongue was completely removed by the roots as punishment for his Catholic faith during the persecutions. Despite this mutilation, he miraculously retained the ability to speak clearly and was subsequently lodged in the palace of Emperor Zeno at Constantinople.
Description
A sub-deacon whose appearance bears the marks of persecution, most notably the complete absence of his tongue. Despite this mutilation, he carries himself with the quiet dignity of one whose miraculous speech has made him a living testament to faith's power over violence.
