Romanus served as military commander and later governor of the Roman province of Africa. Though his military abilities were adequate, his conduct was motivated by personal gain rather than the welfare of the province. His tenure ended in degradation from office, though not before he revealed the existence of a secret passage under the city walls.
Description
A middle-aged Roman military commander with the bearing of authority appropriate to his rank. His appearance suggests competence without warmth, the look of one whose abilities serve personal rather than public interest. The demeanor of a governor whose primary concern appears to be his own advancement.
