Theodore Lascaris began as a valiant youth, son-in-law of the usurper Alexius, who aspired to save and rule his country. His eloquence, politeness, and imperial descent recommended him to the French monarch, who employed him to teach and negotiate. However, his choleric and suspicious temper, combined with illness, would transform him from vigorous ruler to tyrant, leading him to sacrifice kinsmen and nobles in his paranoia before his premature end.
Description
A young man whose appearance reflects both his imperial descent and his warrior education. His features would be marked by the eloquence and politeness that made him valued as a negotiator, yet also by the choleric temper that would define his later years. His clothing would reflect both his military background and his imperial connections, with the bearing of one who has been taught to rule.
