Zathus was a pious youth exalted to regal dignity in Lazica, who abhorred the ceremonies of the Magi and sought orthodox Christian baptism along with a noble wife from Constantinople. His investiture with the symbols of Christian kingship—the diadem, white silk garments with gold borders—marked his complete transformation from traditional ruler to Christian monarch allied with Rome.
Description
A pious young king with fresh youthful features and religious devotion. He wears a royal diadem and white silk garments with gold borders displaying an embroidered figure of his Christian patron saint.
