Zenobia inherited the rule of the Eastern provinces following the death of her husband Odenathus, governing with remarkable skill and military acumen. She led armies personally, appearing on horseback in military attire to inspire her troops, and maintained control over vast territories from her capital at Palmyra. Her reign ended when she was captured by Aurelian's forces while fleeing her city, paraded in golden chains during his Roman triumph, and eventually retired to a villa at Tivoli where she lived out her remaining years.
Description
Zenobia has a dark complexion that contrasts strikingly with her pearly white teeth and large black eyes that seem to spark with inner fire, tempered by an attractive sweetness. Her build is strong and athletic, suited to the military leadership she exercises, and she carries herself with the regal bearing of one accustomed to both battlefield command and royal court. When appearing in military contexts, she wears masculine riding attire, while her royal status is marked by elaborate gold jewelry and chains that speak to both her wealth and authority.
