Chance enters the story as Captain Paran’s strange new sword, its coldness and watery, hazy light setting it apart from an ordinary weapon. Paran finds it awkward to wield, yet it answers danger with a tremor that travels up his arms and proves its force against lanceheads. In time, the sword’s identity becomes clear: it is Oponn’s instrument, not truly Paran’s, and its unsettling agency reflects the god’s influence in his life.
Description
Chance is a polished sword whose blade carries a dim, hazy sheen, like light wavering across water. Its cold, uncanny presence makes it feel almost alive, with a subtle tremor when it answers a challenge. The hilt is made to be gripped tightly, while the scabbard is jaggedly torn. Its beauty is spare and functional, sharpened by a faintly uneasy aura.
