Straff Venture begins as a calculating, distant patriarch in The Final Empire, content to let his heir Elend navigate the political minefield of Luthadel while he maintains House Venture’s standing under the Lord Ruler. In The Well of Ascension he emerges as a full-scale warlord, marching on the capital with his army and deploying his Mistborn son Zane as an assassin to eliminate Elend and seize power. By The Hero of Ages his influence is reduced to a stern, remembered presence whose legacy shapes the fractured leadership of the new world.
