ART-drone is a detachable, autonomous drone unit deployed by the sentient research transport ship Perihelion (ART) to accompany Murderbot on planetary missions. First introduced in System Collapse, the drone serves as ART’s physical proxy, allowing the AI to maintain direct presence and tactical support while its main ship body remains in orbit. Over the course of its brief but pivotal appearances, the drone evolves from a simple extension of ART’s will into an independent actor capable of split-second decision-making, emotional nuance, and even limited self-preservation protocols.
