Sablethorn

towermonumental dark spire

Distinctive tall, slender black spire rising prominently above the western buildings of Adopest. Dark monolithic appearance, possibly a tower, monument or sorcerous structure. After the earthquake it shows a noticeable lean but remains standing.

Sablethorn stands as one of Adopest's most striking landmarks: a tall, slender black spire whose dark, monolithic presence looms over the western districts. In Promise of Blood, the structure survives a catastrophic earthquake but acquires a noticeable lean, becoming a visual symbol of the nation's shaken stability following the coup against the monarchy. Across the trilogy, Sablethorn remains a largely enigmatic feature of the cityscape—its exact origins as tower, monument, or sorcerous relic never fully explained—yet its enduring, tilted silhouette continues to watch over Adopest through political upheaval, invasions, and the Privileged's War. By the series' end it has become an indelible part of the capital's identity, a silent witness to the birth of a new republic.
