The Covenant emerges in Light Bringer as a clandestine alliance of former enemies—Sons of Ares, Republic loyalists, and disillusioned Golds—united to dismantle the Rising’s fractured leadership. Its formation marks a decisive pivot from open warfare to covert subversion, reflecting the series’ shift from battlefield heroics to political intrigue. By the novel’s end, the Covenant’s influence has already begun to eclipse traditional factions, positioning it as the new fulcrum upon which future power struggles will turn.
