Old Town emerges in Iron Gold as the gritty, numbered-street underbelly of Hyperion, a black-market nexus where holocontacts and illicit deals flourish in the shadow of the city's brighter promenades. Throughout the series, this district becomes a recurring crucible for espionage, rebellion, and personal reckonings, its criminal economy both fueling and threatening the fragile post-war order. As the Republic's political fractures widen, Old Town's seedy alleys and hidden dens evolve from mere backdrop into a strategic battleground where the fate of entire worlds can hinge on a single whispered transaction.
