Plutus emerges in Light Bringer as the fortified capital of Io, a gleaming city-state whose tidal-powered shieldDome and surrounding Garter fields symbolize the Moon Lords’ last redoubt against the rising Republic. Throughout the saga, the city evolves from an impregnable fortress into a contested battleground where the fate of the Rim Dominion is decided, reflecting the broader collapse of Gold hegemony. Its transformation from symbol of Solar Empire dominance to a crucible of rebellion underscores the series’ theme that even the most entrenched strongholds can fall when the oppressed unite.
