The Testing Rooms first appear in Red Rising as the sterile, white chambers of The Institute where Darrow undergoes physical and psychological evaluations before House selection. Across the series, these rooms evolve from mere testing facilities into symbolic spaces of transformation, where initiates are stripped of their old identities and forged into new ones. Their clinical sterility contrasts with the brutal realities of the trials that follow, highlighting the Institute's role in reshaping society through engineered conflict.
