Griffin first appears in Morning Star as a genetically engineered hybrid beast—lion body, eagle head and wings—created by the Golds as both weapon and spectacle. Over the course of the series, Griffin evolves from a terrifying, solitary creature into a symbol of rebellion, its loyalty shifting from its creators to the rising Red and allied forces. Its transformation mirrors the broader struggle for freedom, as the creature's fierce independence and loyalty become assets in the fight against the Society.
