Gruesli, a grotesque spider-legged slug native to the Red Rising universe, first appears in Iron Gold as a bio-engineered parasite designed to consume facial disguises and feed on organic matter. Its corpse-pale body and array of black stingers make it both a tool of espionage and a horror weapon. Across the series, Gruesli evolves from a mere biological curiosity into a symbol of the grotesque lengths to which factions will go to maintain anonymity and control.
