Obsidian Battle Armor first appears in Golden Son as the brutal, battle-scarred gear of Obsidian warriors, built for raw, close-quarters slaughter. Across the series it evolves from a symbol of savage, low-tech might into a customizable war-platform that integrates gravBoots, pulseShields, and advanced weaponry, reflecting the Obsidians’ shifting role from disposable shock troops to politically empowered factions. By later books, the armor becomes both a cultural statement and a tactical asset, worn by Obsidian leaders who have carved out their own destinies within the rising Republic.
