The Reaper Armor first emerges in Iron Gold as a symbol of Darrow's mythic status among the Rising, its black-and-red design echoing the Reaper's scythe and the blood-soaked legacy of the original rebellion. Across subsequent volumes the suit evolves from a ceremonial relic into a battlefield necessity, its adaptive plating and gravBoots continually upgraded to match the escalating threats of the Rim Dominion and the Ash Lord's remnant fleets. By the later books the armor becomes a narrative fulcrum: its presence signals Darrow's return to the front lines, while its loss or capture marks turning points in both personal and interplanetary conflicts.
