Romulus's hasta first appears in Iron Gold as a formidable, two-meter black lance that can be disassembled for transport, its silver-etched surface marking it as a weapon of high status. Throughout the series, the hasta evolves from a ceremonial and personal weapon into a symbol of Romulus's authority and martial prowess, reflecting his shifting allegiances and the political upheavals within the Society. Its rigid form and unique design distinguish it from standard razors, underscoring Romulus's traditionalist yet adaptive approach to warfare and leadership.
