Gallant has the scale and quiet authority of a creature who does not need to be commanded to be noticed. His black coat and deep eyes give him a solemn, almost knowing presence, while his independence makes even a simple nicker feel like a choice.

Gallant is a massive black Ryshadium, a horse of rare strength and stature who chooses his own rider. During a hunt, a chasmfiend's tail knocks him down and leaves him scraped and favoring a leg, but he recovers. He later shows a gentler side, nickering at the promise of crispmelons, and carries a trace of shame after throwing Dalinar in battle.

Description

Gallant is an enormous, powerfully built black stallion, two hands taller than an ordinary horse and among the largest horses Adolin has seen. His deep black eyes add to his composed, intelligent presence. As a Ryshadium, he has an imposing, self-possessed bearing; he is also shown wearing armor. His black coat and exceptional size are his defining visual features.
