Jost has the solid, almost-grown sturdiness of a boy who seems ready to test his strength against the world. With a sapling-wood quarterstaff in hand, he gives off a blunt, eager confidence, though his youth is still plain to see.

At fourteen, Jost is already built like a young man, broad through the chest and thick in his legs. He is seen holding a quarterstaff cut from a sapling, and later references recall a past fight without adding much to his portrait. The book gives him no larger arc beyond these brief glimpses.
Description
Jost is a fourteen-year-old Alethi boy, nearly a man, with a broad chest and thick, stocky legs. His sturdy build gives him a grounded, powerful look, though he is still unmistakably young. He is shown holding a quarterstaff made from sapling wood; the text does not specify his hair, eyes, clothing, or other features.
