Laral is a bright, fleeting impression: pale-green eyes, long dark hair lit by golden strands, and a fine yellow dress stirring in the wind. There is a guardedness in the hand hidden by her sleeve, as if even her smallest gestures keep something private.

Laral is introduced as the young daughter of Brightlord Wistiow, a lighteyed girl whose striking eyes and golden-streaked hair make her memorable to Kaladin. Her hair is dyed black to conceal its blondness, and she keeps her left hand hidden in her sleeve. Though she appears only briefly and is later spoken of more than seen, she remains part of Kaladin’s recollections of home and the life he once knew.
