In Szeth’s memories, his father is a former shepherd from the coast of Shinovar, a man whose teaching centered on creation rather than destruction. He taught Szeth a different understanding of duty, captured in the belief that a person should add to the world. That gentle counsel stands in contrast to the harsh lessons Szeth was given elsewhere, and it remains a measure against which Szeth weighs his own choices.
Description
The text identifies him as a man who worked as a shepherd in his youth on the coast of Shinovar, but gives no concrete description of his face, coloring, hair, eyes, age, or build. His clothing is not specified; practical shepherd’s garments would be a cautious visual interpretation, not a stated detail. He is associated with a gentle, thoughtful manner, but no distinctive physical features or accessories are recorded.
