Dobraine has the unmistakable air of a Cairhienin lord: restrained dignity carried in fine, carefully patterned clothes. When first encountered, that composure is nearly swallowed by the stark sight of blood and stillness, leaving an impression both grave and haunting.

Dobraine Taborwin is a Cairhienin lord and the Dragon Reborn’s steward in Cairhien, a trusted ally whose standing makes him an important figure in the realm. When he is found unconscious, covered in blood and gravely wounded, the fragile cost of his position becomes suddenly visible. He survives the attack and remains identified with the work of governing Cairhien, though this book reveals little more of his personal journey.
Description
Dobraine is a Cairhienin nobleman, though the text does not specify his age, build, hair, eyes, or facial features. His most distinctive garment is a fine coat bearing narrow, multicolored stripes from throat to knee, marking the House Taborwin style. When seen here, the coat is torn and bloodied across the chest, and a long wound crosses his head; blood darkens his pale face and trails from his slightly open mouth. Even in this battered state, his dress retains the formal character of a lord.
