The Empress reigns over the Seanchan Empire from the Crystal Throne, and the captured damane are formally her property. She is invoked by the formula “May she live forever,” a measure of the reverence surrounding her office. The text offers no further account of her personal history or actions.
Description
The Empress is identified by her imperial title and her place upon the Crystal Throne; the text gives no details of her age, complexion, face, eyes, or build. Her head is shaved, as is customary in the imperial house. No clothing or other personal features are described, leaving the throne and the formal force of her office as her only visual context.
