He comes to us as a fading echo of an older war: a commander whose courage has outlasted his strength. There is a grave, almost intimate sorrow in the image of a man still holding to his cause as life ebbs away.

Kulain is remembered as a commander of ancient Aldeshar, fighting against Artur Hawkwing in a conflict that belongs to another age. He dies of his wounds on the battlefield, leaving behind only the brief, solemn impression of a warrior at the end of his strength. His place in the book is that of a fragment of history glimpsed through Mat’s uncanny memories, rather than a life followed in full.
Description
The text offers no precise account of Kulain’s face, coloring, hair, or build. He is identified only as an ancient warrior and commander, seen in the extremity of mortal wounds on a battlefield. Any armor, clothing, or distinctive physical traits beyond this are left undescribed.
