Lan gives the impression of a man who has made stillness into a kind of armor. His quiet authority is unmistakable, and even in silence he seems to measure the world with a soldier’s unblinking attention.

Lan is the uncrowned king of Malkier and a formidable Warder, bound by duty and shaped by a life of discipline. In this volume, his Warder bond—once joined to Moiraine—is transferred to Myrelle, a change that places his fate in the hands of a new Aes Sedai. His enduring connection to Malkier and his fierce loyalty remain central to the man he is, even when he is spoken of only indirectly.
Description
Lan is presented here as a formidable Warder and the uncrowned king of Malkier, but this passage provides no precise description of his face, coloring, hair, eyes, height, or build. His appearance is best conveyed through disciplined, practical clothing and the composed bearing of a hardened warrior. He carries himself with reserve and authority, giving the impression of a man who wastes neither movement nor words. Avoid adding distinctive marks or colors not established by the text.
