The White Knight arrives with the tender, absent-minded air of someone whose kindness matters more than whether his armor fits. His shaggy hair, large mild eyes, and collection of improbable contraptions make him seem at once a little ridiculous and profoundly gentle.

The White Knight meets Alice as she crosses the chessboard, an awkward figure in badly fitting tin armor and a jumble of curious devices. Despite his repeated tumbles from his horse, he treats her with gentle consideration and shares his eccentric inventions and songs. His farewell is tender and melancholy, leaving Alice with the impression of a kind-hearted dreamer whose unworldly goodness is inseparable from his clumsiness.
Description
The White Knight is a gentle-looking man with shaggy hair, a kind face, and large, mild eyes. His tin armor fits badly, giving his figure an awkward, loosely assembled silhouette, and a queer little deal box is fastened upside-down across his shoulder with its lid hanging open. His saddle carries a bee-hive and a mouse-trap, while his horse wears anklets. He has the soft, earnest presence of a well-meaning dreamer, more tender than imposing.
