The Trial Control Array first appears in Blackflame as a lavish gold-and-ivory console that lets Monarch-level supervisors oversee the deadly Blackflame Trials. Over the course of the series it evolves from a passive monitoring station into an active battlefield tool, its script-circles later repurposed by Lindon’s team to sabotage or accelerate the very trials they once endured. By the later books the array becomes a symbol of how sacred-art control systems can be turned against their original designers.
