Reverend Mother Ramallo is an ancient Fremen spiritual leader whose authority rests in a lifetime of knowledge and reverence. When Jessica and Paul reach the Fremen, Ramallo recognizes the significance of what stands before her and guides Jessica through the community’s ritual of succession. She passes on her memories and the role of Reverend Mother, joining her experience to Jessica’s in a final act of mentorship. Her frail body gives way, but her wisdom remains part of the Fremen inheritance.
Description
Ramallo is a painfully frail, ancient woman, her frame shriveled until her arms look like thin brown sticks. Deep wrinkles and withered folds mark her face, while a stringy neck rises above the black gown she wears. Her gray hair is drawn into a tight knot, exposed beneath a hood thrown back from her head. She moves with a hobble and leans heavily, yet her solemn bearing suggests an authority untouched by her physical weakness.
