Candidian was an imperial minister sent by the Eastern Roman Empire to the Council of Ephesus, where he attempted to prevent or annul the hasty violence of the Egyptian faction. His ineffectual efforts to maintain order were overshadowed by the arrival of John of Antioch and the Eastern bishops.

Description

A middle-aged Roman imperial minister, wearing official administrative garments appropriate to his diplomatic role, appearing dust-covered from urgent travel. His presence conveys the frustrated authority of one whose imperial mandate has been undermined by events beyond his control.
