Demetrius Poliorcetes began as a surviving son of Emperor Manuel, ruling the domain of Selybria while his brother held the throne. His ambition remained undimmed by Constantinople's distress, leading him to conspire with Turks and schismatics. After his brother's death, he prepared to flee to Italy but was captured by the sultan, watching helplessly as his daughter was taken to the sultan's bed before being forced to follow to Adrianople with his son.

Description

A middle-aged Byzantine nobleman with olive skin and dark hair and beard, his features marked by the refined bone structure of imperial lineage. He wears the purple robes and gold diadem befitting his status as one born in the purple, carrying himself with the measured dignity of a despot who has known both power and its loss. His presence suggests aristocratic authority tempered by the calculating patience of a man who has spent years watching from the margins.
