Didius Julianus began as a wealthy senator whose luxurious lifestyle seemed untouched by the public calamities of his age. His purchase of the empire from the Praetorian Guards marked both his greatest triumph and his fatal error, transforming him from comfortable obscurity into the target of universal hatred. His reign ended in deposition and execution, the once-proud emperor reduced to the status of a common criminal facing the executioner's blade.
Description
A wealthy Roman senator in his later years, his indulgent features and soft build reflecting years of luxurious living. He wears an expensive senatorial toga with purple trim, his balding head crowned with remaining gray hair, carrying himself with the unconscious arrogance of one who has always purchased what he desired.
