There's something both repulsive and fascinating about this magnificently dressed courtier, whose presence seems to fill the spaces between emperor and empire. His bearing suggests someone who has learned to rule through whispers and favors.

Eusebius the Eunuch began as chief chamberlain who ruled both monarch and palace with absolute sway during the reign of Constantius. He assisted in the interrogation of Gallus and made a faint attempt to prolong the reign of eunuchs after Constantius's death. His magnificent dress and position as receiver-general of finances rather than mere barber marked his transformation from servant to the true power behind the throne.

Description

A court eunuch of middle years with the haughty bearing of one who wields absolute authority. He wears magnificent dress that marks his position as chief chamberlain, his presence radiating the power he holds over both palace and emperor.
