Eusebius of Nicomedia began as a bishop who conducted Arius's cause and acquired the reputation of a statesman without forfeiting that of a saint. He was restored to his see and influenced Constantine, later becoming related to Julian on his mother's side. Entrusted with the care of Julian's infancy, he educated the young prince as an Arian prelate, shaping the future emperor's early understanding of both faith and power.
Description
An Arian bishop of mature years with the dignified bearing of one who has achieved reputation in both church and state. He wears ecclesiastical robes befitting his position as Bishop of Nicomedia, his face marked by the careful balance of saintly and statesmanlike qualities.
