There's something of the warrior-poet about this man, with features that echo the great Scipio Africanus himself. His presence suggests both martial capability and the cultivated tastes of a scholar with varied inclinations.

Gordian II succeeded his father as Roman Emperor, bearing a striking resemblance to Scipio Africanus in his features. As the son of Gordian I and grandson of Antoninus Pius through his mother, he possessed literary interests evidenced by his library of 62,000 volumes, though his manners were less pure than his father's, as shown by his twenty-two concubines. He met his end leading his guards in battle.

Description

A Roman emperor whose features bear resemblance to Scipio Africanus, with the bearing of a man whose inclinations range from scholarly pursuits to more worldly pleasures. His appearance reflects both his distinguished ancestry as grandson of Antoninus Pius and his reputation for maintaining an extensive library alongside numerous concubines.
