Marcus Opellius Macrinus began as a praetorian prefect of obscure origins who served under Caracalla. After participating in the emperor's assassination, he seized the throne for himself, becoming the first non-senatorial emperor. His brief reign ended when he was defeated by Elagabalus's supporters and subsequently executed.
Description
A mature Roman man with dark hair showing gray at the temples, clean-shaven face with sharp, intelligent features. His eyes have a calculating quality, and he wears the formal robes appropriate to a praetorian prefect, his bearing controlled and deliberate.
