Romanus II, known as Romanus the Younger, was the son of Constantine VII and husband of Theophano. As a young Byzantine emperor, he embodied the promise of imperial succession with his striking physical presence and love of the hunt. His brief reign marked the continuation of the Macedonian dynasty, though his life was cut short before he could fully realize his potential as ruler.
