A man whose beauty seems almost incongruous with his evident courage, as if the gods had granted him both the face of a poet and the heart of a warrior. His presence commands loyalty even as it promises danger.

Romanus IV Diogenes rose from condemned prisoner to Byzantine emperor through his beauty and valor. As husband of Empress Eudocia, he led Roman forces into battle wearing the imperial purple. His final stand saw him wounded, his horse slain beneath him, yet he fought alone and intrepid until overpowered by Turkish forces, who later granted him a robe of honor in captivity.
Description
A Byzantine emperor whose beauty and valor are immediately apparent. He wears the imperial purple with the bearing of both ruler and warrior. His appearance suggests the rare combination of courtly grace and battlefield courage, the look of one who has risen from scaffold to throne through personal merit.
